Description

A piece of this web was in the possession of my grand-aunt Miss Flora MacRa (sic) of Ardintoul

The structure of the Culloden tartan is very similar to this and Coulsen Bonner calls it Culloden or Ancient MacHardy

Based on the design of a tartan Jacket said to have been worn by Prince Charles Edward Stuart at Culloden - earliest date 1746 - now preserved in the Scottish United Services Museum in Edinburgh Castle

The design comes from the Vestiarium Scoticum (1842)

MITCHELL (MODERN) WEATHERED A piece of this webTartan shared by Hunter, Galbraith, Mitchell, and Russell. It appears in the Highland Society of London collection as Galbraith, in a mid 19th century list as Russell, also marketed in 20th century as Hunter, and ca. 1950 acquired the name Mitchell when it was adopted by the U. S. Air Force Pipe Band and renamed in honour of General Billy Mitchell.
